Blaine steps up two divisions to beat Latvian
Hatters fan Blaine Courtney marked his pro debut with a convincing victory, despite fighting two weights above his natural level.
The 20-year-old former Cardinal Newman High School pupil showed plenty of confidence as he dominated an exciting super featherweight fight against Latvian Paulis Senkovs.
Weighing in at just 8st 13lb, the natural super bantamweight proved too good for Senkovs, from Mansfield, as he claimed a 59-55 points victory in their six-round bout.
He said: "It's a great experience. I wanted to be the first up and try and set the record for the other lads to go on and they did. Graham closing was even better.
"Naturally that's me moved up two weights. I was fighting a bigger man, I think I had him hurt and won the fight, and that's all that counts."
