Bream and roach prominent on Grand Union Canal

The Grand Union Canal has been fishing well with roach and bream especially prominent.

Club chairman Dave Edwards, along with his daughter Jo, managed a 200-fish catch from section nine, while Alan Jenkins, on section 13, reeled in some decent carp and bream.

Michael Evans caught 11 carp off the surface at Beckerings Reservoir, Steppingley, while Gary Stevens caught four carp to 22lb.

On North House Lake, Wyboston, Terry Mats netted a 25lb common carp, Kelvin Newman a brace of commons at 16lb and 15lb and Mark Newman a 14lb 3oz common.

Harvey Miller snared a 15lb common, while Robin Velasco captured a 8lb 4oz bream and a 4lb 8oz tench.

John Campbell had a 19lb 6oz mirror on the South Lagoon, Dawn Hatchelt an 11lb 6oz zander, Danny Kelly zanders of 15lb 4oz, 11lb 2oz and 9lb as well as a 12lb pike.

On the River Ouse, Dave Clark caught a 10lb pike and a 1lb 4oz perch and Julia Douglas reeled in a 12lb pike.

This weekend, Luton AC entertain Vauxhall AC for the Paul Kisby Memorial Trophy at the Grand Union Canal.

Match result, Grand Union Canal: 1, Dave Moss, 13lb 4oz; 2, Tim Jones, 9lb 8oz; 3, Steve Davis, 9lb 4oz. Section winners: Mick Dickens, 6lb 8oz; Darren Perry, 6lb 4oz; Paul Maister, 7lb 1 4oz.
