Music, speech and drama festival is back

Bedfordshire Festival Of Music, Speech and Drama is back in Bedford this weekend, with new categories for competitors.

The popular festival, which showcases some of the region’s finest talent, will take place from Saturday (March 2) and will continue until March 9.

From its Bedford Corn Exchange base, the festival is set to attract over 1,000 entrants from ages five to 80.

Classes range from solo singing to oboes and electric guitars. There will also be verse speaking, bible reading and new classes including verse speaking to a musical background.

In the music section of the festival there is also a new class to celebrate the works of Francis Poulenc, who died 50 years ago this year.
