A familiar face has returned to Bedford to re-open her shop, Froggy’s Gifts.

Joanne Mason, with the help of daughter Amy, has moved her popular ‘hippy shop’ into Clair Court, after almost a year away from her business.

Originally, Froggy’s was in Lime Street but Joanne had to close down for health reasons.

She said: “In January, I had a major operation with a very long recovery time. I knew there was no point in keeping the shop, as I couldn’t run it.

“I then had a second health scare in September but fortunately I got the all-clear.

“My family asked me what I wanted to do, now I had my life back. I said, get my shop back. It was like a bereavement, losing Froggy’s.”

Just a month later, Joanne secured new premises.

She said: “Clair Court is a lovely location. I see the courtyard as a quirky part of town, a bit like The Lanes, in Brighton, or Camden market.

“I have made Froggy’s like a festival in a shop.”

Joanne has a loyal following and was often asked when she would re-open by customers who were missing Froggy’s.

She said: “I sell things to help people relax. Incense and crystals are big sellers, as are the fairies and dragons.”

Froggies is holding an official opening on Saturday, November 29, from noon, with cupcakes, live acoustic music by Amy, and fundraising for Bedford’s Primrose Unit.
