Bedford mayor joins bakery to celebrate Real Bread Week

Companions Real Bread bakery, based in the Art Centre on Howard Street, invited the public to drop in to the Harpur Centre's new events area on Saturday, February 22, to mark the start of Real Bread Week.
They were encouraged to bring samples of their own bread and watch demonstrations by Companions Real Bread bakery.

Hide AdMaggie Rich, Companions' board member, said: "The event went well and it was quite busy. That new events area is great and it is a really nice space.
"It catches people when they come out of the car park, it has a good footfall.
"We had some of our seasoned supporters come down and we also welcomed some new faces.
"It was a really good afternoon and we would love to do it again, we always like to get out and about but it can be difficult on top of what we already do."

Hide AdMayor Dave Hodgson was also invited to the event on Saturday, he said: “I was delighted to meet with the Companions and see them demonstrate their skills and sample their tasty selection of breads at the Harpur Centre during Real Bread Week.”
