REVIEW - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - Milton Keynes Theatre - Wednesday, February 24.

By Paul Fisher

Theatre can often ostracize children and there's normally only one family visit a year when the panto is in town.

Well no more - if you're looking for something to do with the little ones this month take them to go see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

This musical fairytale has many of the characteristics of a pantomime, you still get the boos and hissing when the evil Child Catcher walks on stage and of course the cheers when the famous car flys - something worth going to see in its own right.

Led by Bedford boy Darren Bennnett, playing Caratacus Potts, there are wonderfully hilarious performances by Baron and Baroness Bomburst, played by Edward Peel and Kim Ismay, and from bumbling spies Boris and Goran, performed by Richard Ashton and Nigel Garton.

This is good fun for kids and big kids alike.

Catch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as it makes a flying visit to Milton Keynes Theatre until Saturday, March 13.
