REVIEW: Chicago, Milton Keynes Theatre, Monday, January 25.
A dazzling show
SO this was not the first time I had seen Chicago, or the second or third in fact, but it just does not get old.
Sitting in a packed out theatre on a Monday night it still gives me a buzz from the moment the single spotlight hits the stage at the opening, to the all singing all dancing razzle dazzle of an ending.
This is also the second time I've seen Emma Barton playing Roxy Hart and she is even better than I remember.
From start to finish her facial expressions, singing and dancing are flawless.
She again lines up alongside Twinnie-Lee Moore, who has now been playing Velma Kelly for the past year and between the two of them they carry the show effortlessly.
In fact, coupled with a superb cast of supporting singers and dancers, the ladies tended to overshadow Marti Pellow's portrayl of Billy Flynn.
He was fantastic as Daryl Van Horne in Withces Of Eastwick at Milton Keynes Theatre last year, but for some reason he just didn't capture the debenour coolness of Flynn's character for me.
