EXCLUSIVE: Nadine speaks only to the Times & Citizen

Mid Beds MP Nadine Dorries is swapping the House of Commons for the jungle by taking part in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

And the MP, who lives in Westoning, gave her only media interview to the Times & Citizen ahead of her controversial Australian adventure.

Speaking before her departure, which has resulted in her suspension from the Conservative Party, she said: “It occurred to me that more people watch the X-Factor final than voted in the general election and I think as a politician it would be arrogant of me to expect people to look into Westminster to see what I am doing.

“Lots of people have this impression of MPs as being expenses swindlers with their snouts in the trough and to be fair some are.

“But I see this as an opportunity to show that some MPs are just ordinary mothers and fathers, sons and daughters. Some of us come from ordinary backgrounds and have the same values as everyone else.”
