CAN you capture the magic of one of Bedfordshire’s Hidden Treasures in a single image?

That’s the challenge we are setting Times & Citizen readers today as we launch an exciting photographic competition for 2012.

We have teamed up with Bedford Camera Club to offer an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic photographers of all ages.

The well-established club stages its annual exhibition from April 19 to 21 at the Harpur Suite in Bedford. And for the first time there will be an open category for Times & Citizen readers.

We are hoping for a bumper crop of entries. So what we need you to do is submit an eye-catching image under the title Bedfordshire’s Hidden Treasures.

The title is broad and we leave it to your imagination as to how you interpret it. It could be a location - town or country - an event, maybe even a person or group. The choice is yours!

It should ideally be taken within the T&C’s distribution area of Bedford borough and Mid Beds but any image taken in the county since October 1, 2011 is accepted.

Pictures may be in colour or black and white, and must be emailed in PDI digital format - sorry, no prints will be accepted.

The judges will be the Times & Citizen’s photographic team of June Essex and Tracey Goodacre who will choose a first, second and third in our two age categories - one for over 18s, and one up to and including 18 years of age (as of March 12, 2012).

All entrants must live in the T&C distribution area - this competition is open to both members and non members of local camera clubs.

The top three images in each age group will be printed and mounted for show at the exhibition, and gifted to the winners afterwards.

Bedford mayor Dave Hodgson will present the winners with their certificates at the exhibition on April 19.

The overall winners will also see their work displayed to our army of readers in the pages of the Times & Citizen.

To enter, please email your image - no larger than 8MB in size - to pictures@timesandcitizen.co.uk

Your picture should be attached to the email as a jpeg. Please also include in your email brief details of the photo - up to 100 words - together with your name, postal address and contact phone number.

One entry per person only. All pictures must arrive no later than 9am on Monday, March 12.
