Covid update: Bedford records just nine cases in 24 hours

No deaths in the town for ninth day running - and only 17 nationally

As of today (March 22), Bedford has recorded nine new cases of coronavirus, with a total of 13,283 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were no deaths in Bedford (483), no deaths in Central Bedfordshire (567) and none in Luton (490).

Central Bedfordshire has 32 new Covid cases with a total of 15,565, while Luton recorded 41 with a new total of 19,684.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 30,855 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 75,516 and Milton Keynes has 19,660 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 27,997,976 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 2,281,384 have received their second dose. ​

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 5,342 and now stands at 4,301,925. The number of deaths has risen by just 17 to 126,172.
