Covid update: Bedford records just five cases in 24 hours

And still no deaths in the town

As of today (March 31), Bedford has recorded just five new cases of coronavirus, with a total of 13,360 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were no deaths in Bedford (484), none in Central Bedfordshire (568) or Luton (495).

Central Bedfordshire has 14 new Covid cases with a total of 15,750, while Luton recorded 27 with a new total of 20,004.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,091 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 75,996 and Milton Keynes has 19,824 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 30,905,538 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 4,108,536 have received their second dose. ​

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 4,052 and now stands at 4,345,788. The number of deaths has risen by 43 to 126,713.
