Times Past: Goldington Road school in 1950s

PUPILS at a Bedford school were performing in two different ways more than 60 years ago.
David Jones of Bromham sent in these two pictures taken during his time at Goldington Road Secondary Modern School in the period 1950-52.
He said: “The pupils shown were in their final year as we left at 15 years of age in those days, and were probably in the classes of either Mr Driscoll, Miss Harrison or Miss Cottam.”
The first shows a Shakespearean school play.

Mr Jones said: “ From memory there were four parties created but I cannot remember the result, so would be interested if any ‘survivers’ could let me know.
“I believe that one of our most popular teachers, the late Mr Frank Crisp, organised this little exercise.”
