A flood of visitors went to check out a large number of jobs on offer at Luton's first Jobs & Careers fair. Some 20 organisations showcased to potential employees at the Auction House recruitment and training event.
The event was sponsored by privately owned residential developments managers Peverel OM, which look after more than 70,000 homes in the UK and are expanding in the Luton area.
Bronwen Anderson of Peverel OM was very impressed with the event. She said: 'As this was our first recruitment event in the local area, we were pleased with the numbers of prospective candidates. Many will go on to interview for positions in our company.'
Local newspapers The Herald&Post The Luton News and Dunstable Gazette supported the event and had a very successful time with many visitors uploading their CVs to the expert job seeking website
www.jobstoday.co.uk.
Jobs & Careers events match visitors looking for careers and training opportunities with companies looking to recruit staff in a relaxed and informal way.
It is the ideal way for organisations to meet new employees and talk to them face to face, and even better for visitors, who can find out more about a job and present themselves ready for work.
Kevin Fernandes of Lidl GMbH said: 'First class exhibition, companies and visitors were made to feel welcome from the start, ensuring an excellent turnout and certainly very successful outcome.'
For visitors hoping for a career change or a chance to retrain there was expert advice and guidance from Adecco and Business Link.
Barnfield College found the event 'Fun, interesting and busy'.
