Motorsport round-up

Speedster Jason Moore extended his Henderson Formula Palmer Audi Championship lead by two points with a victory and podium finish at Brands Hatch.

The Bedford-based driver won race one from second on the grid after passing pole-sitter Jolyon Palmer.

In the second race, Moore held third position from the grid to the chequered flag.

He said: "It has been a good weekend but I am not even thinking of the championship at the moment.

"It is still maximum attack in every race."

Moore now leads the championship by 34 points ahead of Palmer.
Bedford-based Spaniard William Zollo, 17, meanwhile, dropped three places to 14th on 78pts after a 16th place finish and a retirement.

Adam Foster, 18, from Bedford, remains ninth on 115pts after recording eighth and fifth place finishes, respectively.

The next round of the championship will take place at Snetterton, Norfolk on August 16-17.

Ealewhere, Paul Granger claimed victory in the fourth round of the karting Super One National Rotax Championships in Grantham.

The Flitwick-based 25-year-old, who has been racing karts for seven years, started the second final at the PF International circuit from second place on the grid.

After gaining the ascendancy on the second lap, Granger built on his lead and was able to cruise to victory.

In the first final, the current British Open champion had to recover from the back of the field after a collision to make his way up to second spot from where he was able to make his move in the decisive race.

Granger will have his kart on display outside the Topgear shop in Flitwick during a number of weekends as he seeks to increase his exposure.

Today's Vote

Can marathon runner Paula Radcliffe and badminton star Gail Emms win Olympic gold for Bedford?
Paula's injury and the quality of Gail's opponents might make it tough.
I'm backing Paula to fulfil her dream at last.
Gail must do it after her fabulous first round win with Nathan Robertson.
Come on girls! You both can do it!
