National Junior League athletics from Norwich

Team Beds produced their best performance of the season in the National Junior League meeting in Norwich on Sunday.

The composite team, which combines athletes from Bedford & County, Luton and Biggleswade, finished in fourth place out of six teams and moved them out of the wooden spoon position, as they ended the season in fifth spot.

Bedford's Lucy James was the standout performer, her victory in the A string 400m in a time of 56.3secs breaking the club's 26-year-old senior ladies' record.

There were also wins for Scott Johnson in the high jump, Cairon Craig in the pole vault, Hannah Frith in the ladies' high jump and Michael Graberz in the B string high jump.

Alice Middleton won the 400m hurdles in 1.05.4mins and the B string 400m in 59.1secs, while Luton's Craig Andrew finished third in both the long and triple jumps with efforts of 6.23m and 12.95m respectively.
