Snooker-loopy Greyfriars pair pot maximum breaks
Harvey and Brindle mirror 'Rocket' Ronnie
While the world's best are hogging the headlines at the World Championships at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre, two local snooker players have caused a stir by potting 147 breaks.
Sam Harvey and Danny Brindle, who both play at the Greyfriars Snooker Centre in Bedford, have recorded maximums in the past two months.
Brindle, 23, has been playing for the past seven years and is a regular on the pro-am circuit, a scene that is already familiar to 14-year-old Harvey who only took up the sport two years ago.
The Samuel Whitbread Community College pupil, who in addition to competing in Pro-am events also takes part in nationwide junior tournaments, was the fifth youngest player to ever record a 147 break, eclipsing the achievements of Ronnie O'Sullivan and Ali Carter who recorded maximum breaks in Sheffield earlier in the week against Mark Williams and Peter Ebdon respectively.
