Peter Francis rounds-up the best of the action from the Bedfordshire League
FA Carlsberg National Systems Cup

The Bedfordshire County Football League ended their involvement in this season's FA Carlsberg National Systems Cup when a 88th minute goal from Dorset Premier League's Aaron Corby took his side to an 2-1 victory.

It was the visitors who had much the better of the early play and only two outstanding saves from regular Blunham keeper Barry Ulyatt denied Jacob Harrop and Jamie Moores to keep his side in the game.

The hosts' first effort saw Caldecote's Leeroy Odd bring a decent save out of Dorset goalie Tim Pearce on 15 minutes.

Harrop was to beat Ulyatt seven minutes from the break when he took full advantage of some poor defending to slot home for 1-0.

Moores was then guilty of an early second half miss which would have left the home side with a mountain to climb.

The turning point arrived on the hour when referee Ian Rathbone adjudged Dorset's Alex Halloran to have handled inside his own box. But alas, keeper Pearce got down well to save Odd's spot kick while just 60 seconds later Pearce retained his hero status to keep out a header from Sharnbrook's Neville Allen.

At the other end, keeper Ulyatt again showed his class to save well from Harrop, until with just eight minutes left the home side levelled the match, Campton's Daniel Webb's long throw causing total mayhem in the Dorset box which allowed Kempston Town's James Allen to bundle the ball over the line for 1-1.

Unfortunately there was to be no fairy tell ending as Ulyatt tipped Harrop's late effort over his bar and from that resulting corner kick, Corby was on hand to slide home the visitors' winner.

Bedfordshire County Football League: Barry Ulyatt (Blunham), Neville Allen (Sharnbrook), Ollie Housden (Oakley Sports), Daniel Webb (Campton), Ben Flatters (Sharnbrook), Rakesh Gill (Ickwell & Old Warden), Jason Allison (Sharnbrook) Kai Griffiths-Shilton (Biggleswade United Res), Tom McGhee (Dunton), Leeroy Odd (Caldecote) Dean Warren (Flitwick Town). Subs used: James Allen (AFC Kempston Town), Tony Goodwin (Renhold United).

Beds FA Intermediate Cup

Five Bedfordshire County Football League sides made it safety into the draw for the third round of the Intermediate Cup. Topping the list were Marston Social with a penalty shoot-out win over Molten Spartan South Midlands League side Langford Reserves.

A strike from Darren Rowlett plus an own goal saw the sides deadlock at 2-2 after 90 minutes and with extra time bringing no further goals it was all down to a shoot-out. Social's James Kinns, Ashley Dean, Richard Stimpson, Lewis Tompkins and James Armstrong all netted for a perfect set of five against the visitors four in reply.

Also sending SSML opposition out of the cup were both Henlow and Caldecote Reserves.

Two goals from both of Joe Fallano and Pete Saunders saw Henlow to a 4-1 home win over Totternhoe Reserves while Caldecote Reserves were 4-2 extra time winners at Ampthill Town Reserves.

Two Jack Boyd goals saw the game deadlock at 2-2 after 90 minutes before he completed his hat-trick with Andrew Spiers adding to the scoreline in extra time.

Joining them in round three will be Leighton United and Kempston. United needed extra time to win 3-1 at Flitwick Town.

A Kevin Hilton goal looked to have booked United's passage until with just two minutes left, Town's Dean Conway levelled matters. But it was Leighton's day when extra time goals from Alex Bradley and James Batten saw them home.

Kempston were 2-1 winners over Meltis Albion although it was the visitors who led 1-0 at the break thanks to a goal from Daniel Wells. But second half strikes from Danny Burraway on 72 minutes and Ricky Prince eight minutes later took Kempston to victory.

Nearly joining them were both Bedford Sports Athletic and AFC Kempston Town Reserves. Goals from Athletic's Matthew Smith and Gary Canzano saw them 2-0 up at SSML side Crawley Green Reserves at half time but they were to lose 3-2.

Meanwhile goals from both Earl Patterson and Nigel Drummond were not enough to save Kemspton Town from a 3-2 home defeat by Luton District & South Beds League outfit St Joseph's.

Also making their exit from the cup competition were Sandy who were beaten 3-0 by The 61FC Reserves in Luton while Stevington were thrashed 8-0 by UCL Reserves Division One leaders Stotfold Reserves.

Division One

With all the Beds FA Intermediate Cup action going on, the Division One programme was confined to just two games. Blunham Reserves climbed to seventh with a 2-1 win over FC Meppershall thanks to goals from Gareth Hughes and Elliot West, the lone reply from Darren Bentley.

Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves moved now out of the bottom two following a 2-1 victory over Campton Reserves, the goals coming from Lee Threadgold and Steve Monks against a reply from Kevin Rimmer.

Division Two

There is no change at the top of Division Three after the leading four came up with wins. Leaders Bedford Hatters netted a 1-0 home win over Marabese Ceramics thanks to Danny De Feo. It was their fourth home win on the bounce.

Second-placed Potton Wanderers maintained their season's unbeaten home run with a 4-0 win over Brache Sparta Community Reserves. Two goals from James Sergeant plus strikes from Joe Harrington and Ricky Aris saw them lift the three points.

For third in the table Marston Shelton Rovers it was win number six on the bounce. They won 4-2 at Elstow Abbey thanks to Chris Patrickson (two including a penalty) while Zennon Paul and Shaun McFarland netted the others, the Abbey replies from Adam Flynn and Dave McCarthy.

The Elstow cause wasn't helped by the first half sending off of Sean Allison after he earned two yellow cards.

Fourth-placed Arlesey Social Galacticos were 2-0 winners at Great Barford with Ryan Dobson scoring in the half hour and again five minutes from time.

Elsewhere Shillington remain rooted to the bottom after losing 8-2 at Harpur FC. Martin Ivy led the way with a hat-trick and was supported by Justin Dear (two), Fabrizio Cataldo (two) plus a single strike from Michael Stevenson, Shillington's replies courtesy of Sam Larsen and Richard Ciaravella.

Clifton's plight at the wrong end of the table gets no better after they were beaten 4-2 at home by Shefford Town.

Rob Cox and Garry Brown took the visitors to a 2-0 half time lead before goals from Greg King and Lee Austin levelled matters. That was until Tom Scurfield struck twice to give Town the points.

The day's final Division Two match saw Kings AFC and Kempston Royals share the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Rowan Hazelwood and Andy Mayes were on target for the hosts against replies from Royals' Claudio Jordan and Lorenzo Jordan.

Division Three

Queens Park Crescents held onto their unbeaten ways although their five game winning run ended in a 2-2 draw against visitors Renhold Village.

Ayaz Hussain and Shezad Satter netted the home goals against Village replies from Simon Wade and Carl Townsend.

The point was not enough to save Village from dropping to fifth in the table after Stopsley Park came up with a 3-2 win at Sandy Reserves.

Omar Richards netted once, but Park's real hero was Jack O'Shea with the other two, the first direct from a corner and the winner a 25 yard screamer. The home replies came from Kevin Fage and Dean Hains.

Westoning Recreation Club Reserves took their unbeaten ways to four games with a 3-3 draw at Caldecote 'A'. Dan Channon, Alex Barnwell and Liam Boyle were on the Rec Club's scoresheet against home replies from Ryan Ambrose, Kerion Newman and Steve Bush.

The day's final game at Hurst Grove between Lidlington United Sports and Riseley Sports Reserves was postponed due to waterlogging.

Division Four

With Sundon Park Rangers away on Watson Shield duty, Sharnbrook Reserves went top of Division Four following their 3-0 win over Eastcotts. Jayme Harris (two) and Darren Wallinger scored the goals.

At the other end of the table, Bedford Park Rangers remain bottom after being beaten 6-0 at Dinamo Flitwick. Daniel Hollis with a hat-trick plus goals from Kane Bunyan, Nick Stanton and Dan Myers did the damage.

Only just above Rangers are Kempston Athletic who were beaten 7-2 at home by Flitwick Town Reserves. Steve Kouwenbreg and Harry Rowlands both netting twice alongside an own goal plus a strike from Christain Breeds, the Ath replies from Gary Whitbread and Sean Betts.

The result of the day belonged to Thurleigh who were 3-1 winners at M&DH Oakley. Ben Stock, Ali Povey and Josh Sinclair were on the scoresheet against a lone home reply from Dan Ellison.

Stewartby Village ran out 4-3 winners over Clifton Reserves with goals from Michael Darnell, Gareth O'Brien, Julian Caves and James Churchman.

Watson Shield Group Five

Watson Shield action in Group Five saw a 2-0 away win for Wilshamstead Reserves at Sundon Park Rangers thanks to goals from Mark Kelly and Glen Tumulty.
