Rovers ravage Bedford Sunday

Clapham Rovers made it five wins out of five to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier Division by beating Bedford Sunday 3-1.

Bedford were at their best for much of the first half, but fell behind to a stunning strike from Danny Garbould.

Paul McKeaveney equalised minutes later only for Garbould to score again to give Rovers a fortunate half time lead.

Clapham's keeper, Stuart Lutter was forced to make several stunning saves to keep United out in the second half, while Jason Layne curled home the decisive third goal.

Atletico Europa are two points behind after a good win at Royal Oak Kempston, while Supreme are struggling to find any kind of form after falling to their fourth straight defeat at Westoning RC.

Caldecote Young Boys still head Division One after a 4-1 win against Houghton Conquest. Undefeated and with games in hand Inter Cople and Esquires both remain in the hunt.

This week, Cople won 5-1 at Brickhill Warriors, Richard Cook scoring twice and Paul Nigro, Simon Pixley and Carmonie Defeo snatching the others. Esquires, meanwhile, beat Queensmen Reserves 4-1.

Cleartough Diamonds overhauled 21st Century at the top of Division Two by harpooning Sharks 8-0. Century failed to impress against Old Hastingsburians, losing 4-2

Third placed Burnaby Arms though, could only draw at Cross Keys Wootton, while London Road Old Boys continued their improvement by moving into fourth spot with a 5-3 win against Ship Inn.

Trailing 2-0 at half time, The Boys hit back with a Jordan hat-trick and one each from Neil McCormack and Nathan Austin.

Wootton Park Rangers got two valuable points from bottom club Salento, winning 6-3.

Charlie Standish scored twice along with goals from Stacey Field, Eddie Allen, Ashley Dower and regular centre-half Chris Cooke, who was playing in goal this week, via the penalty spot.

Wootton Wanderers scored three goal in the last 10 minutes to beat Autotronix.

Aaron Franks claimed a brace and Martin Chalkley got the other, while Luke Bartishel had another excellent game.

Top guns in Division Three Evolution were held 2-2 by powerful Meltis Mexicans. Two-nil down at the break Evolution fought back with a Neil Alexis header and a Michael Jones penalty.

Bell Sandy Reserves clung on to a 2-1 win at Cranfield Sunday to go second, Ryan Bates scoring Cranfield's consolation.

Kent Arms and Partizan Reserves drew, while BMC beat lowly Wheatsheaf Flitwick 3-1with goals from Jon Southam, Dan Ward and Scot Southam.
Kempston Constitutional Club moved a point clear at the top of Division Four by smashing 13 past Star Clapham.

Bedford United Sunday are second after their 4-0 win over AFC Rose.
Dave Kember, Jamie Underwood and man of the match Sam Keeley (2) getting the goals.

Devonshire Arms edged into fifth by drawing with Sir William Peel, while Newnham Athletic stay bottom after a 9-3 defeat to Goldington FC.

New Inn Biggleswade's superior goal difference keeps them ahead of Renhold at the top of Division Five. Inn this week beat Goldington Athletic 6-0, while Renhold won 3-0 at Rose Biggleswade, with goals from man of the match Garry Johnstone, Dale Matthews and Bradley Washford.

Wootton Park Rangers Reserves won their first game, beating Bedford Albion 1-0 thanks to substitute James Hundy's late 30-yard rocket.

Bedford Rovers hammered Shortstown 11-2, Kev Dimcoe scoring five, Harley Dowe three and Adam Nottingham, Alan O'Dell and Phil Jeffs one each.

It was a dark day for the two Premier Division clubs in the first round of the FA Sunday Cup.

Partizan were outclassed 6-0 by Club Lewsey, and Sandy Sunday lost 4-3 on penalties to the 61 Club Luton ter extra-time had finished 3-3.

After what we've been through in Bedfordshire with the riot and fire five years ago, I'd rather the facilities were built somewhere else.
Fair enough, we have got to house failed asylum seekers somewhere.
It's a recipe for disaster housing foreign criminals with immigrants who have outstayed their visas and others going through the fast-track immigration process.
