Bedford athlete to use 10-mile event as final warm-up for New York

Paula Radcliffe will compete in the Great South Run as she builds up to the defence of her New York Marathon title.

The Bedford & County AC star will run in the 10-mile event - her first race over the distance for 19 years - on Sunday, October 26, seven days before the race in the United States.

In Portsmouth, Radcliffe will face sturdy competition from fellow Briton Jo Pavey, who was third in the recent Great North Run, and the much-fancied Australian Benita Johnson.
