Football Management Committee disbanded with immediate effect
Bedford Town FC's Football Management Committee (FMC) has been disbanded following a meeting of the club's board of directors yesterday.

A board statement read: "Following a discussion with members of the FMC, the board of Bedford Town FC has taken a decision to disband the FMC with immediate effect.

"The board wishes to thank the members of the FMC for their hard work and commitment over the last 18 months."

A statement from the FMC read: "The Football Management Committee has been disbanded by the board of Bedford Town Football Club following a board meeting on 6 February 2010.

"The FMC was advised that this was because the board did not believe that the FMC would be able to manage the playing budget effectively for the remainder of the season.

"All of the former FMC members, who are first and foremost Bedford Town supporters, will continue to work to support Bedford Town through the Supporters Club and in other ways.

"The planned fans forum on Thursday 11 February will still take place. The former FMC members will be present as we believe it is now even more important for there to be a discussion of the current position of Bedford Town Football Club involving as many supporters as possible."

The FMC was given responsibility for managing the playing side of the club following a vote of club shareholders back in April 2008.
