Meanwhile, heavy rain and spray caused Icknield Road Club's Evening League Time-Trial last Tuesday to be cancelled, but Icknield's riders fared better at the club's open 25-mile time-trial at Tempsford on Sunday.

Richard Noon led the club's riders home in 58.22mins, followed by Richard Gray, 1.00.07hrs, Andy Parrish, 1.03.37hrs, Barry Gilzean, 1.05.14hrs, and Colin Holmes, 1.08.04hrs.

At the Norlond 10-mile time-trial Rob Blackmore clocked 27.36mins, while Colin Holmes managed 27.47mins and Mike Richardson, 32.29mins.
Accredited cycle coaches from the club, meanwhile, introduced 16 novice riders from Icknield High School to track cycling at the Gosling Stadium, Welwyn Garden City.

Elsewhere, Team Sanjan Design's Andy Bright managed to clock a fine time of 24.13mins before the rain kicked in at the Ely CC 10-mile time-trial last Tuesday to claim second place.

There was victory for Stuart Tarry the following day at the North Bucks Road Club 11.4-mile time-trial at Stony Stratford. His time of 27.13mins was almost a minute ahead of his nearest challenger.

Bright was back in action at the Cambridge CC 10-mile time-trial on Saturday clocking 24.47mins, while five club riders competed at Icknield Road Club's 25-mile time-trial on Sunday.

Tarry was fastest for the team in 55.10mins, Nick Pitt recorded 57.30mins, Ian Markham, 59.23mins, Alan Crane, 1.02.09hrs, and Andy Bright, 1.03.16hrs.

Today's Vote

What did you think of Proms In The Park?
Another triumph, possibly the best yet.
I liked the local singers Irene Grant and Bedford Choral Society.
It's not really my scene.
The best thing about it is the fireworks and lasers
