Barnes century fails to deny Ickwell

Ampthill secured local bragging rights as they crushed Flitwick by 116 runs in Saracens Herts League Division Two.

Simon Morrall top-scored with 61 as Ampthill reached 185-8, Michael Ellis, 3-44, and Danny Thompson, 3-62, were the pick of the Flitwick attack.

In reply, Chris Degnan took 5-16 as Flitwick were skittled out for a dismal 69 as Ampthill cruised to victory.

In the Bedfordshire County League Premier Division, Matthew Barnes' century for Ampthill was in vain as Ickwell claimed a 64-run victory in a high-scoring encounter.

Batting first, Millan Ghand made 80 as Ickwell racked up an imposing 335-9, Will Sneath taking 4-46 for the hosts.

Barnes then struck 103, assisted by Chris Esh with 56, but Ampthill came up short, finishing on 271-6.

Flitwick also tasted defeat as they went down to Dunstable by eight wickets.

Alan Carr's 4-47 restricted Flitwick to 137 all out, a total Dunstable passed with ease in the 30th over.

In Division Two, Cople Argus scraped to a three-wicket victory against Eversholt.

Eversholt were bowled out for 134 before Cople responded with 137-7.
In the Bedford and District League Premier Division, Wilden secured a six wicket victory at Shaheedi.

Shaheedi were dismissed for just 79, Martin Warman the star turn with 6-14. He was well backed up by Steve Bambury, 2-13, and Neil Wilson, 2-31.
In reply, Wilden eased to victory with 83-4, Neil Clark making 19 and Nigel Lewin 24.

There was a crushing 109-run victory for Putnoe over Bedford Indians in Division One.

Having won the toss Bedford Indians put Putnoe into bat, who proceeded to make 213-6.

The highlight was 116 from Stephen McDougall, while A Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with 3-29.

Bedford Indians, meanwhile, were bowled out for just 104. Alan Harper Smith was Putnoe's best bowler, taking 5-25.

Brickhill cruised to a nine-wicket win over Little Staughton on Saturday.

The hosts were bowled out for just 60 as Haroon Iqbal took 4-3 from just 5.1 overs. Adrian King claimed 3-22 and Martin Kinsella chipped in with 2-24, while only Paul Dynes, 31, offered any resistance with the bat.

Steve Smith was undefeated on 27 as the visitors passed their target.
Despite missing six regulars, Smiths Arms made it five wins from their last five games with a resounding 87-run victory against Bedford Athletic.

Smiths set a target of 211 thanks to Martin White's 59 and Mark Unney's unbeaten 45.

Ath started cautiously, but some fine bowling dismissed them for 124. Mick Keens, Darren Smith and Unney taking two wickets apiece.

Thurleigh II, meanwhile, recorded a crunching 202-run victory over Pilgrims Oakley IIIs in Division Three.

Batting first, Thurleigh amassed a total of 272-4, thanks largely to C Wood's 120 and A Bailey's unbeaten 50.

Oakley folded in reply, as they were skittled out for just 70, G Mehew top scoring with 18. Thurleigh's top bowler was A Bailey with 4-12, while R Stean took 3-5.
