Police helicopter helps track down two men while search continues for third robber

A woman was threatened at knifepoint by three men who stole her shopping bags, containing little more than a pair of trainers.

The robbery happened in Downfield Way, Kempston, at 12.26pm on Monday, May 12.

Police sent an armed response unit, a dog handling unit and launched the force helicopter to search the Hillgrounds Road area after the three black men escaped on foot.

One of the men was arrested nearby at 12.55pm and a second was apprehended by officers at 1.30pm.

Police are still searching the area for the third man.

A police spokesman said: "This is an excellent example of how useful the force helicopter can be in searches, as Hillgrounds is a large area."

Anyone with information can contact police, in confidence, on 01234 841212 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

Today's Vote

What did you think of Proms In The Park?
Another triumph, possibly the best yet.
I liked the local singers Irene Grant and Bedford Choral Society.
It's not really my scene.
The best thing about it is the fireworks and lasers
