A woman has died following a head-on collision between a car and a motorcycle.

The incident took place on a minor road between Riseley and Bletsoe at 3.48pm on Saturday, (February 21).

Maria DeQuincey, 50, of Rushden, was riding a Yamaha motorcycle when she failed to negotiate a corner, crossed onto the opposite side of the road and collided with a Toyota MR2.

She suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the Toyota was not hurt in the collision.

Gary Sanderson, spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service, said: "Due to the nature of the call, one of our trust's air ambulances was called to assist at the scene.

"Following a rapid scene assessment a woman was sadly pronounced dead by a doctor from the aircraft."
