Councillor Dave Lewis remembered at the first meeting of the newly-elected Bedford Borough Council



Members of the Borough Council paid tribute to former Councillor Dave Lewis at the first meeting of the newly-elected council on Wednesday, June 17.

Councillors took part in one minutes silence at the beginning of the meeting and members from all parties praised the "true socialist"

Labour group leader, 62, who died from an aneurysm on April 19.

Mayor Frank Branston said: "He had a passion for politics, pop music from the 1970s, real ale and debating.

"Had he lived I would have offered him a place on my cabinet."
