The team that deals with young offenders is Luton has been judged one of the best in the country in a national inspection.
Luton Youth Offending Service (YOS) was visited by officers from the HM Inspectorate of Probation during the winter, and a report issued this week said the team were "well-led, motivated and committed".
The report praised the service in Luton for its excellent work with parents, carers and the victims of crime, and the work that staff members carried out with offenders to stop them committing more crimes.
Bedfordshire's chief constable Gillian Parker, said: "I am delighted, but not surprised at such a positive assessment of Luton Youth Offending Service.
"The work of the YOS is integral to the wider aims of the Bedfordshire Criminal Justice Board, and the importance of working successfully with young offenders to reduce the impact of crime on communities in Luton cannot be underestimated."
