Developer Bellcross Homes begins talks with council
Cardington's famous Airship Hangar One could soon have a new use, following talks between a potential buyer and council chiefs.

Bedford Borough Council is in negotiations with developers Bellcross Homes, who have signalled that they are interested in purchasing the now-derelict Hangar One.

If the deal goes ahead Bedford Borough Council and town planning bosses Renaissance Bedford have set aside £100,000 in funding to go towards finding the best possible use for Hangar One.

The site houses two aircraft hangars, which were built in the 1930s to house the R101 airship. Hangar Two is now used by the film and music industries.

A spokesman for Bellcross Homes said that more information would be available in the coming weeks.
