MP Patrick Hall sees the solar solutions at Bedford College
Solar solutions shone on Bedford College at a sustainability event to mark world environment day.
Students showed a range of their work in an exhibition that included solar-powered ovens, making biodiesel from used vegetable oil, and a look at the potential affects of climate change on Bedford.
Several of them were also presented with awards by Bedford and Kempston MP Patrick Hall.
Esin Esat, Bedford College's director of sustainability, said: "We decided to run our sustainability day on world environment day to highlight the importance of sustainability to the college, the community and the world.
"The exhibition has given departments from every area of the college the opportunity to share with others what they are doing.
"We are increasingly working with our community and this exhibition is aimed at the public and well as those in the college community.
"Sustainability is on everyone's minds these days and affects everything we do.
"It is not just about lifestyle but about economic development as well.
"If we are to get ourselves out of this recession this is the key."
