Another roaring success at Bedford's premier classical music event
Every time I go to Proms In The Park it happens.

I always know that it is going to be a great event. But I also underestimate, every time, how much fun I will have.

Every time I imagine that I won't really know any of the songs, but in fact I recognise almost everything - even if I can't name them all.

And every time I think to myself: "Wow, how lucky am I, to live in a town where this takes place right on my doorstep, every single year."

For the benefit of anyone who did not make it to this year's event, it was just what everyone has come to expect.

Soprano Juliette Pochin was magnificent - not just for her voice, but for her stage presence before a buzzing Bedford Park.

The various musicians were perfect - not just to my own untrained ear, but according to the response of everyone who remained rivetted.

And the atmosphere was truly superb - so if you were there too, thank you for helping to make it such a superb evening's entertainment.

Four years on from my first-ever Proms, I still haven't learnt the words to Land of Hope and Glory.

But if the Proms organisers can promise to keep putting on such an excellent event, then I promise to have learnt them all in time for Proms 2009!

Today's Vote

Are you feeling the pinch in the ongoing credit crunch?
Too right, food and energy bills are hurting the most.
As long as I don't lose my job I'm just about OK
Stocks and shares falling doesn't really affect me.
