Pupils make their point to speeding drivers
Renhold Lower School pupils design and hand out flyers to motorists.
Speeding drivers have been given food for thought by Renhold Lower School pupils.
Youngsters took part in an art competition in protest at motorists who speed past the school or park on yellow 'zigzag' markings outside.
And the best flyers, created by Olivia Coker, Katrina Johnson and Cassidy Reid-Sriha, were printed and handed out to drivers this week.
Care club manager Donna Gower said: "I have been here for 18 months, but this problem goes back years. We have already had incidents where
children have been knocked by cars but not hurt. It could just be a matter of time before there is a serious accident.
"There are two main blackspots, one in front of the school and one to the side. We want to make parents aware, so we have sent letters out in the past and we have had a policeman making spotchecks and speaking to motorists.
"That has had an effect for a couple of weeks but then the problem returns."
