Seven people helped to safety after being stranded in floods at Felmersham Bridge

Fire crews had to rescue seven people from the same flooded bridge in two days.

Three elderly women were helped to safety on Monday evening, after attempting to cross Felmersham Bridge in a car. The road had been made impassable by the rising river level following heavy rain on Sunday.

Firefighters were again called to the bridge on Tuesday morning at around 8.42am when a minibus carrying four people was stranded in the flood.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "Flooded roadways can be
deceiving. Our advice is, if you see anything larger than a big puddle, do not attempt to drive through."

The bridges at Oakley were closed to traffic on Tuesday night and on Wednesday morning due to flooding.

Have you had an annual pay rise in the last 12 months?
Yes, a whopper, thanks for asking.
A small one, but it has hardly covered the increased costs of living.
Not this year, I'm afraid.
What's an annual pay rise? I can't remember the last time I had one.
