13 youngsters sign contracts to join the armed forces
Thirteen new army recruits made the oath of allegiance to their country at Luton Town Hall on Monday.

The fresh-faced Bedfordshire youngsters signed contracts and were issued with the oath by Luton's mayor, Councillor Norris Bullock.

Luton lad Ian Clark, 22, joins the Royal Anglian Regiment 2nd Battalion as an infantry soldier, along with fellow new recruits Ian Feakes, of Houghton Regis, Richard Coletta, of Stevenage and Darryl Turner-Walshe, of Dunstable, all aged 16.

George Sullivan, of Hatfield, will also join the Royal Anglian Regiment 2nd Battalion.

Former cleaner Osei-Kofi Dankwa, 24, is to be a ground crew man in the Army Air Core and Andrew Sherring-Lucas, 17, joins the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers as a vehicle mechanic.

Trevor Sanders, 20, of Bedford, joins the 9/12th Queens Royal Lancers as a tank crewman and 18-year-old student Oliver Wallace, of Leighton Buzzard, also joins the Army Air Core.

Both Nadee Tyrant, 21, of Luton, and Ricky Cook, 17, of Stevenage, join the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers as vehicle mechanics.

Hair stylist Luke Bowen, of Biggleswade, joins the Parachute Regiment.

And the only female to sign up was Daphne Murinzi, aged 22, who will become a military clerk in the Adjutants Generals Core.
