Appeal after footage shows him walking through Bedford and over County Bridge

A search for a missing man has progressed following a police study of CCTV footage.

Bill Dove, 57, from Cardington Road, Bedford, has not made contact with his family since Saturday, March 8.

Officers have since found footage of him walking down the High Street in Bedford, and over County Bridge, at around 2.30am early the following day after he left The Balloon pub.

Further work is going on to see if other cameras can track him after that, and specialist sniffer dogs brought in from Dyfed-Powys Police over the weekend have tracked his scent.

Det Sgt Linda Hollowell said: "At this stage we have tracked Mr Dove's movements as far as the bridge and now need sightings of him after that. We still don't know what has led to his disappearance.

"We are not ruling anything out at this stage. After crossing the bridge Mr Dove would normally have turned left along the river to get back to his home, so we are keen that people using the paths that run alongside the river, and up to Cardington Road, keep a lookout for clothing or belongings that could have been dropped by him.

"We have also heard that Mr Dove had arranged to meet a female friend or date during the week – an appointment we are assuming he never kept. We've been unable to track down this person so if she is reading this we would also like to hear from her."

Have you had an annual pay rise in the last 12 months?
Yes, a whopper, thanks for asking.
A small one, but it has hardly covered the increased costs of living.
Not this year, I'm afraid.
What's an annual pay rise? I can't remember the last time I had one.
