Man suffers head injuries after river fall

Emergency services helped pull semi conscious victim from water

A man suffered head injuries after falling into the River Great Ouse in Bedford on Friday, May 9.

The 21-year-old fell into the river near the Town Bridge at the junction of The Embankment and the High Street at 11.24pm.

Two fire crews from Kempston, one from Bedford and a rescue boat were launched to help the man who was semi conscious when he was pulled out of the water.

He was taken to Bedford Hospital South Wing for treatment.
