Man impales arm on fence

Firefighters take 20 minutes to release a man who impaled his forearm on a spiked fence outside his home in Bower Street, Bedford
Rescue crews had to use specialist cutting equipment to free a man who impaled his forearm on a spiked fence outside his home.

The incident happened at around 11.30pm on Sunday in Bower Street, Bedford.

Firefighters from Bedford and Kempston worked for 20 minutes to release the victim, cutting away the top and bottom part of the railing.

Paramedics then took the 53-year-old to Bedford Hospital South Wing for treatment with part of the railing still imbedded in his arm.
