Man arrested after cannabis factory is unearthed
Cannabis plants and cannabis growing equipment found after dawn raid on house in Mile Road, Bedford
A cannabis factory was discovered followed a dawn raid at a house in Mile Road, Bedford, on Friday, May 16.
Officers from the Kempston Safer Neighbourhood Team found approximately 35 cannabis plants and hydroponics equipment.
One man, who is believed to be in early 40s, was arrested on suspicion of cultivating the class C drug cannabis. He was taken to Greyfriars police station where he is helping police with their investigation.
According to police the electricity supply to the property had been tampered with to bypass the meter, rendering it a hazard to those using the property and neighbouring homes.
A spokesman for Bedfordshire Police said: "This seizure is the result of carefully planned, intelligence-led work and confirms the message that Bedfordshire Police is committed to the fight against drugs and those involved in producing, selling or using them can expect to find officers knocking at their door.
"We hope these operations send out a clear message that drugs, and the cultivation of drugs, will not be tolerated in Bedfordshire."
Anyone with information about drug issues in the Kempston area can contact the Kempston Safer Neighbourhood Team, in complete confidence, on 01234 842433, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
