BMS student to visit Beijing Games as Boost ambassador for Bedford
A schoolgirl has Olympic success in her sights this summer, when she represents Bedford at the Beijing Games.

Katie Kedward, a Year 12 student at Bedford Modern School, has been selected to go to the games for one week from August 14, as part of the Bedfordshire & Luton Olympic Opportunities Support Team (BOOST) project.

Earlier in the year, BOOST made sport facility submissions to the organisers of the London 2012 Olympics. Eight facilities will be included in the Guide of Pre-Games Training Camps which will be distributed to all National Olympic Committees at the Beijing Games including Bedford Modern's school for table-tennis.

She said: "Taking part in the BOOST Project is all about being an ambassador for Bedfordshire. Beijing seeks to inspire others about the Olympic idea and how it benefits people."

While in Beijing, Katie will undertake a media role, watching events and producing daily on-line reports for BOOST about the Beijing culture and how the UK could promote the 2012 Olympics.

She added: "I am one of 11 others from the county who have been selected to be part of the BOOST team. It will be a fantastic cultural experience.

"I believe that the Beijing Olympics is a good way to inspire people to achieve more and the London Olympics will promote English sport to the next level."
