Two armed men steal large amount of money after break-in and threats with crow bar

A disabled woman says she "feels scared in her own home" after two armed men broke into her house and stole a large amount of money.

The woman and her husband, both in their 60s, were at home in High Street, Greenfield, at 8.15pm on Saturday, July 5, when two men came to the front door.

Her husband opened the door and one of the men pushed his way inside, knocking him to the floor and threatening him with a two-feet long crowbar.

One of the robbers then went upstairs where he threatened the woman before taking a safe containing a large amount of money and a small tin box with a number of gold sovereigns and jewellery inside, worth £1,000.

Both offenders then escaped in a small silver hatchback car, heading towards the A6.

The man with the crowbar is described as between 20 and 25 years old, about 5ft 9ins tall, with dark, dirty skin and a thin build.

The second man is described as between 6ft and 6ft 2ins tall, with a big, muscular build, wearing a navy or black balaclava and carrying a two-feet long wrench.

A spokesman for Bedfordshire Police said: "This was a very scary experience for the couple. The woman says she now feels scared in her own home.

We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen a silver car driving away from the area, or who has found a dumped safe."
