53-year-old Brian Dodd last seen at Clarendon Street night shelter in Bedford.

Concerns are growing for a man with a heart condition who has not been seen by his friends in six days.

Brian Dodd, 53, was last seen at Clarendon Street night shelter in Bedford at 9am on Wednesday (May 14).

He had been a guest there since last September and police are concerned because his departure was unexpected and he left most of his belongings behind, including his medication.

Mr Dodd, who is not known to have family locally, is described as white, slim, about 5ft 8ins tall with shoulder-length grey/blonde hair, a grey beard and glasses.

He was wearing a sand-coloured jacket with blue or beige trousers and speaks with an English accent.

Missing person co-ordinator Sgt Ian McBrearty said: "If anyone knows Mr Dodd's whereabouts, or sees someone fitting his description, we would ask them to contact us as soon as possible."

Anyone with information can contact Sgt McBrearty, in confidence, on 01582 473134. Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

What did you think of Proms In The Park?
Another triumph, possibly the best yet.
I liked the local singers Irene Grant and Bedford Choral Society.
It's not really my scene.
The best thing about it is the fireworks and lasers
