North-East Beds Conservative MP moves to help communities react to proposed closures.

A public meeting takes place on Thursday, August 14 as part of the campaign against mass closures of post offices.

Last month the Government confirmed plans to close 19 branches across the county and provide others with 'outreach solutions' such as mobile services.

Alistair Burt, Conservative MP for North-East Bedfordshire, has arranged the summit at Ravensden Village Hall. at 7.30pm.

He said: "The Government's plan would affect post offices in Upper Dean, Thurleigh, Colmworth, Stevington and Ravensden – that is quite a chunk of north Bedfordshire, and emphasises just how important post offices are to smaller communities. I have already received a
substantial petition of many hundreds of signatures from Ravensden.

"Many people, particularly those who are isolated and have limited access to a car, could be left stranded."
