Rescue crews race into action after 999 alert
Three people were treated in the Luton & Dunstable Hospital after fire badly damaged a terraced house in Luton's Ivy Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Two crews of firefighters from Luton and another from Stopsley raced into action after the alarm was raised at 4.45am.

It's not yet known how the fire - which badly damaged the ground floor of the house, caused serious smoke damage upstairs and also spread to neighbouring properties - started.

It's believed one of the people taken to hospital was an elderly woman. Two were suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation, and the third needed treatment for an arm injury which firefighters at the scene said was caused when the man tried to break into the property.
