Gang ambushed victim in broad daylight

A teenager was dragged into an alleyway on Saturday by a group of robbers who stole his mobile phone.

The 15-year-old victim was walking along Ashburnham Road at about 11am when he was grabbed from behind and pulled into an alleyway. The gang dragged him over a low wall, searched him and took his mobile phone from his trouser pocket before running off.

PC Jamie Miller, investigating, said he believed there were three offenders involved. One is described as a thin man of Asian appearance, about 22 years old, wearing blue jeans and a black fleece top.

PC Miller said: "Although this was a shocking experience for the victim he was not injured and managed to make his way home from where he was able to alert the police.

"I am keen to trace anyone who in the Ashburnham Road, Brantwood Park or Butlin Road area of Luton on Saturday morning as they may have information which could help this investigation."

Anyone with any information about the incident should contact PC Miller on 01234 841212, text 07786 200011, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
