Two men arrested

Police found 35 wraps of suspected heroin and crack cocaine after a drugs swoop in Barton.

Thanks to help from the public, officers stopped a car in York Close on Wednesday at 6pm.

One man tried to escape but was caught and another fled across gardens before being stopped by police.

Both men were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and were taken to Dunstable Police Station to be interviewed.

The initiative, called Operation Bluebonnet, was led by the Specialist and Economic Crime Unit and the Dunstable-based Intelligence Unit.

It is the latest in a series of unconnected seizures and arrests made by Beds Police this year.

Det Insp Mark Lay, who led the operation, said: 'We would like to thank the public for their continued support and urge anyone else with information to have the courage to contact us. Together we are making Bedfordshire safer.'

If you have any information about drugs in the area, contact the Divisional Intelligence Unit on 01582 473270, the main switchboard on 01234 841212 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
