Pop Idol singer joins youth theatre cast
Pop Idol contestant Helen Farrar is coming home to tread the boards in an ambitious theatrical spectacular to be staged at Luton's Sixth Form College.

Following her appearances on the Pop Idol show, eventually won by Will Young, Helen made several TV and radio appearances and even recorded a song with soul singer Edwin Starr.

But next month, Luton's home grown star will take on the demanding role of Amanda Coughlan in the latest musical production, We Love a Movie, from the Colin Smith Luton Youth Musical Theatre.

Helen said it was an opportunity she just could not turn down. "I have always wanted to do a show with the musical theatre but the timing never seemed to be right. However, this is such a brilliant show and such a fantastic part that this time I just couldn't say no," she said.

Among dance routines in the show are numbers from Chicago, Grease, A Chorus Line and Footloose.

Helen said: "This show is so good it has attracted just about the best cast I have ever been in."

Live performances of the show will be at the college from Wednesday, April 7 until Saturday, April 10. All performances are at 7.30pm and
tickets are priced at £7, or £5 concessions.

Tickets are available from Re-Max Properties at 37 Alma Street, Luton, 01582 405406, or the 24-hour ticket hotline on 07967 621969.
