Shopper appeals for items to be returned
A shopper in Luton's Arndale Centre had her handbag snatched on Sunday - while she was in the toilet.

Sylvia Oakley, of Leagrave, went in to the Bute Street lavatories in the shopping centre at about 1pm and hung the bag on the back of the door.

The 59-year-old believes it was stolen while she was in the cubicle.

The cream, glittery Monsoon handbag contained a purple leather purse, a Nokia mobile phone and Gucci spectacles, worth £150.

Arndale bosses confirmed that Sylvia's bag was one of two stolen on Sunday and an announcement was made to other shoppers to keep valuables close to them.

A Beds Police spokeswoman said: "Please, even in a locked cubicle, keep your handbags very close to you. Hold it on your lap if you have to."

If you find Sylvia's handbag, or any of the items in it, take them to the nearest police station.
