Covid update: here's the latest figures for Bedford from Public Health England

As of today (April 9), Bedford has recorded no new cases of coronavirus, according to revised figures from Public Health England.

From today Public Health England has changed the way cases are reported.

Cases that have been identified through a positive rapid lateral flow test will be removed for people who took Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests within 3 days that were all negative.

Cases of this type that were previously reported were removed from the cumulative total, reducing the total by 8,010. In Bedford, there has beenn a reduction of 19. Thursday's figures showed 13,403 recorded cases, today's figures show 13,384 cases.

Newly reported cases at regional and local authority level within England are calculated as the daily change in the total number of cases. This means that for 9 April 2021, these show significantly lower numbers or zero, and should not be considered as the actual number of new cases reported on that date.

There were no deaths in Bedford (484), one in Central Bedfordshire (569) and none in Luton (496).

Cases in Central Bedfordshire have been revised down by 20 to 15,813, while Luton's figures have been revised down by 29 with a new total of 20,184.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,193 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 76,192 and Milton Keynes has 19,915 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases is now 4,365,461. The number of deaths has risen by 60 to 127,040.

As of April 8, in the UK, 31,903,366 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 6,541,174 had received their second dose.
